A woman I’ll call Daniela* and her boyfriend Rafael* came to our clinic recently requesting information about abortion. She didn’t speak English and relied on her boyfriend to translate everything our patient advocate shared from English to Spanish.
When a medical grade pregnancy test confirmed Daniela’s pregnancy Rafael said he would support whatever Daniela decided, but his patient advocate encouraged Rafael not to be silent and to vocalize his true feelings…
As they discussed the implications of their options, the discussion turned to spiritual topics. Daniela was raised Catholic, and she and Rafael welcomed praying with their patient advocate. At the end of the appointment, Rafael spoke up saying, “I think we have gone from 50% sure we want to keep the baby to 75% sure.”
When Daniela returned a few days later for the ultrasound, Rafael had to work and wasn’t there to translate. Thankfully, one of our nurses who speaks limited Spanish was able to communicate with her. Meeting her baby on ultrasound, cemented her decision … Daniela chose life! The nurse proceeded to give Daniela additional resources, and our team is continuing to follow this family throughout their pregnancy.
Daniela shared this in her online review of Life Network: “All the staff are super special and friendly. (I am) super grateful for their attention and delighted to have come.”
Daniela’s story highlights the difference your support makes at our pregnancy centers every day. It also spotlights a growing need for volunteers who speak Spanish – and other volunteer opportunities. We also have a Spanish-speaking Support Staff role available.
Amendment 79 is Radical and Harms Families
This election cycle, a radical pro-abortion amendment seeks to permanently enshrine the “right” to unrestricted abortion until birth in Colorado’s Constitution. This reckless and extreme initiative will appear on Colorado ballots as Amendment 79 – Constitutional Right to Abortion.
Read our blog post to learn what’s at stake if Amendment 79 passes, and how you can get involved.
