“Having a baby was not part of my plan.” Allison (not her real name) opened up to her patient advocate during the intake process. She and her boyfriend never intended to get pregnant. Allison thought a baby would completely derail their life — so abortion seemed like the best option.
“Can I have a brief spiritual conversation with you?” the patient advocate asked. Allison welcomed the encouragement. She needed it now more than ever.
As the patient advocate shared the gospel, something in Allison’s heart began to stir. She listened intently and asked for prayer at the end of the conversation. She still didn’t know what she was going to do, but at least now she had a glimmer of hope.
Allison continued on through the appointment process. But because she was very early in her pregnancy, there was nothing to see on the ultrasound — no baby to show yet.
Those signs are often the key to a woman choosing life.
To confirm a viable pregnancy, Allison was encouraged to come back for a second appointment.
But she didn’t need the ultrasound to convince her to choose life.
During a follow-up appointment, she said, “I’ve decided to keep my baby.”
At that first appointment, it wasn’t the medical services that empowered Allison. She was too early in her pregnancy for the ultrasound to make an impact. It was the Gospel — shared by a compassionate and caring patient advocate — that God used to put hope in Allison’s heart and compel her to choose life.
As much as women in our community need access to no-cost pregnancy testing, life-revealing ultrasound scans and other care, they also need to hear the life-giving story of the Gospel. Your generosity opens the door to both!
Thank you for helping to encourage and equip women like Allison to choose life.
