Marilu* wasn’t ready to have a baby. She had plans. She had career goals, and those goals felt threatened by everything a baby would mean for her future.
Then she came to our Westside center for an ultrasound. The sonographer who met with her was *Gina, a physician who volunteers her time at the center. While she worked, Gina shared her own story. She’d gone through medical school and residency while raising her own children, proof that a career and motherhood didn’t have to be opposing paths.
For Marilu, hearing that changed everything. She could see, for the first time, a version of her future where she didn’t have to choose. She decided to parent her baby.
Our volunteers often make the difference between life and death. We are so grateful to all of the “Gina’s” we have — if you aren’t currently volunteering with us, would you pray about joining us and changing lives every day?
