You can help women like Dee …

Imagine yourself sitting across from a young woman who was pregnant. She tells you, “I don’t believe in God, and I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

That’s where one of our volunteer coaches at Westside found herself with Dee*, a client in our Motherhood program.

The month before, Dee’s husband was in a serious car accident. His car was totaled, but he walked away unharmed. When Dee shared the news, her coach gently noted that it seemed someone had been watching over him. She used that moment to talk about how the Lord watches over us even when we aren’t aware of Him, and from there she was able to share the gospel.

Dee admitted she had been hurt by Christians in the past. Her coach listened and acknowledged that people can wound each other, sometimes without even realizing it. Then she reminded Dee that God cares for her in ways no person ever could.

“I may need to think about that,” said Dee. She walked away from that conversation more open to Christ.

Conversations like this happen because a volunteer like you chose to show up, build trust, and stay ready for the moment a door opens.

You don’t need to have every answer to be a coach. You just need a heart to listen and a willingness to walk alongside a mom during one of the most uncertain seasons of her life.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you could be the person God uses in someone’s story, we’d love to talk with you about becoming a volunteer coach or serving in another volunteer role.
