Ivania doubted herself . . . but found the courage to be a mother
When Ivania walked in, she was closed off, wary, and adamant about an abortion. “I can’t be a mother . . . I don’t want to be a mother,” she said with tears in her eyes.
After two weeks of experiencing what she thought might be pregnancy symptoms, Ivania’s world came crashing down. She had no immediate family to lean on, and the father of her baby wasn’t in the picture. She didn’t plan on telling him she was pregnant.
To her, abortion was the only option on the table.
Not knowing how far along her pregnancy actually was, Ivania agreed to a scan. She believed she was likely only 6-7 weeks along since she had just started experiencing symptoms . . .
. . . but the whole room was shocked to discover a 28-week-old baby!
Ivania was floored. Crying and in disbelief, she again said she didn’t believe she could be a mother.
Like many terrified women facing an unplanned pregnancy, Ivania doubted her ability to parent alone.
But because you support the life-saving efforts of Life Network, women like Ivania don’t have to be alone.
The patient advocate shared with Ivania that, even though she didn’t feel ready to care for a child, abortion wasn’t her only option. “Adoption would be a loving and courageous choice,” said the patient advocate.
The center helped Ivania apply for medical insurance, gave her information on adoption, and kept in touch with her over the coming weeks. A month and a half later, the center received a note from Ivania . . .
Her baby, Addison, born 4 weeks early, was healthy and beautiful. The brave new mom had decided to raise her baby!
The center invited Ivania to come in with Addison for diapers and clothes. Ivania couldn’t keep herself from looking at her beautiful little girl with wonder. When she was told she was a “good momma,” Ivania’s face lit up with a smile.
Your generosity and prayers help women like Ivania realize they have everything it takes to be a good mom—and save them and their babies from the emotional and physical harm of an abortion. Thank you!
