When Bonita* came to Life Network for an ultrasound, she was considering abortion. Juaquin, the baby’s father, came with her and waited in the lobby during her appointment. He hadn’t filled out any paperwork, and because he didn’t speak English, it would have been easy for him to sit there unnoticed.
One of our volunteer male client advocates made sure that didn’t happen. He walked out to the lobby, said hello, and offered Juaquin something to drink and a snack. With the help of Google Translate, the two of them started talking, and Juaquin shared that he wanted to parent. Our volunteer encouraged him to tell Bonita how he felt if he hadn’t already.
After the appointment, we learned that Bonita was having a change of heart and was now leaning toward parenting.
Our volunteer simply showed up and was willing to start a conversation, and God used that moment in a powerful way. God can use anyone. Would you consider signing on as a volunteer? If you speak another language, that’s a big bonus!
