When Fear Turns to Hope

Your support guided Mary from unexpected fear to choosing life.

Mary (not her real name) is a mother, through and through, and she and her husband are raising three young children. Though it’s taxing, she wouldn’t trade it for the world.

But when Mary suspected she might be pregnant again, she went searching online for help.

Mary came across a trusted resource, and she made an appointment right away. The day of her appointment, Mary received the positive results of her pregnancy test and had to admit, “It was a result I just didn’t want at that moment. So I asked about abortion options.”

It was clear that Mary was struggling with so many worries. “First, this was unexpected. Second, we didn’t have the time or resources. Third, our financial situation was not at its best.”

Mary had no answers for the worries that plagued her mind. But she was made aware of her options and encouraged to ponder and pray about them.

When Mary returned home, she spoke with her husband. He too had his concerns about continuing the pregnancy. They both agreed they didn’t have the resources to raise another child.

But Mary stayed true to her promise to pray. As she did, she was reminded of another Mary. One from the Bible who was willing to carry a child even though it didn’t fit within her vision, schedule or resources.

Meanwhile, Mary continued to receive care at the pregnancy center. Though she was still processing doubts and fears, as she met with the women there, Mary was assured she wasn’t alone.

After seeing her baby’s ultrasound, Mary recalls with tears, “I told God, ‘If this baby is your plan, I surrender and ask you to provide what we need.”

Soon, Mary became a witness to the miracle of provision. “My husband’s salary increased. It opened doors for us to buy our house.” Her biggest miracle came in the form of her fourth baby.

“He’s a gift from heaven. Today, we see him walk, run, and smile, and we just recognize the great love God has for us.”

Thank you for giving a mother like Mary, who had her misgivings, the care she needs to choose life
